Death - Esplanade - Darwin City

Police

Police are calling for public assistance in relation to the death of a 66-year-old man who was discovered at the bottom of The Esplanade Cliffs yesterday.



The man was located at the bottom of the cliffs closest to the Daly Street end of The Esplanade at 6:30pm yesterday by a woman walking her dog. He was last seen exiting the Holiday Inn ("old" Travel Lodge) located on The Esplanade at approximately 9:00pm on New Years Eve.



Police would like to trace his movements after this time.



The man is described as;



* Caucasian

* Neat and tidy appearance possibly using a walking cane or stick

* Approximately 180 cms tall

* medium build and approximately 95 kgs

* Brown (possibly dyed) receding hairline with natural grey flecks

* Grey coloured short sleeve polo shirt

* Blue coloured full length jeans with a brown belt

* weaning dark grey coloured socks with open brown coloured sandals

* Tattoo on the upper right arm



Police are not currently treating the death as suspicious, however, anyone who may have witnessed the man walking along the esplanade or may have further information in relation to the incident is urged to contact crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.
