Commercial Barramundi Fishing Vessel, Tenders and Nets seized – Anson Bay / Daly River Mouth

A surveillance operation by the Water Police Section has resulted in the apprehension and seizure of a commercial fishing vessel in the Anson Bay / Daly River mouth region on Wednesday.

Members of the Water police were conducting surveillance at the Daly River Mouth when they observed three men setting a gill net from a commercial fishing boat. It is alleged the men were inside a fisheries closure line.

As a result of initial investigations police have seized a 17 meter Commercial Barramundi Fishing vessel, 2 x 8 meter tenders and a large quantity of gill net.

Four fishermen including the Skipper are assisting police with their enquiries and investigations are continuing.
