Charged with assault – Fannie Bay

A 57-year-old male has been charged following a domestic incident that occurred at Kurringal Flats in Fannie Bay on Tuesday 29 November 2011.

Sergeant Kaye Pemberton said members of the Family Violence Unit attended the residence at around 4:40 pm whilst following up on another matter.

“The man was located hiding in bushes armed with a three metre fishing spear after having allegedly assault his 55-year-old partner,” said Sergeant Pemberton.

“The 57-year-old was arrested and has since been charged with aggravated assault, armed with an offensive weapon and going armed in public.

“Police do not tolerate domestic violence and with the mandatory reporting requirements, we strongly urge victims or those who suspect domestic violence may be occurring, to contact Police immediately on 131 444.”

The male has been bailed with strict conditions to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 21 December.
