Police have charged a male prisoner following the assault that occurred on a Prison Officer at the Alice Springs Correctional Centre on Thursday 1 December.

Detective Sergeant Leith Phillips said the man is alleged to have thrown boiling water at a 35-year-old Prison Officer’s face.

“He was charged this morning with aggravated assault of a Prison Officer. He is to appear in the Alice Springs Court on 10 January 2012.”
