Call for witnesses - Assault - Nightcliff

A 27-year-old male remains in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Darwin Hospital following an assault that occurred in Nightcliff last night.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Tony Henrys of the General Crime Section said Police received reports of an assault on Progress Drive at around 10:30 pm and upon attendance, saw a man lying on the road near the entrance to Litchfield Court.

“The male had received injuries to his head and was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance members,” said Detective Sergeant Henrys.

“It is alleged that an altercation occurred between the victim and an unknown person, resulting in the 27-year-old’s injuries.

“The offender is described to be of Aboriginal appearance. It is believed that he fled the area and at this stage remains unknown to Police. We urge anyone that may have witnessed the event, or who may have information relating to it, to contact Police on 131 444.”
