Bushfires - Alice Springs

Police

Emergency Services in Alice Springs have brought two grass fires burning on the outskirts of town this afternoon under control.

One fire was located 25km North-West of Alice Springs, while the other was burning near Golden Mile, 25km west.

Fire crews battled the blazes to ensure they didn’t threaten property and the fires have now abated.

Police Acting Superintendent Jody Nobbs says “Residents on the outskirts of the Larapinta Sub Division are being advised that back burning operations will continue throughout the night to ensure the fires remain contained.”

Residents of both areas are being asked to limit non-essential travel due to reduced visibility and the presence of Emergency vehicles and workers.
