Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the Finke River south of Hermannsburg this afternoon.

Police were alerted to the 39-year-old man's death by N'taria Health Clinic staff who were called to the scene just after 3pm.

Witnesses told police the man had been swimming in the Finke River with family members when he died. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cuse of death and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
