Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found at the old fuel depot site in Darwin's inner city area this afternoon.

Police received a report that an unconscious male had been found at the old Shell fuel depot just before 5pm. When police and ambulance crews arrived they found the man deceased.

He is believed to be an Aboriginal man aged between 40 and 45. He is yet to be formally identified.

Police have established a crime scene and are calling for anyone who was in the area this afternoon to come forward. Anyone with information should phone 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
