Attempted sexual assault - Katherine

Katherine Detectives have released a comfit image of an alleged offender involved in an attempted sexual assault that occurred on Riverbank Drive, Katherine South, in the evening of Tuesday 13 September 2011.

It is believed that at approximately 7:00 pm, a 47-year-old woman was approached by a man of Aboriginal appearance who engaged her in conversation.

The man then followed the woman for a short distance before taking hold of her and physically carrying her into the bush along Riverbank Drive, where he has then attempted to sexually assault her.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance with a slim build, approximately 170cms tall, with a shaved head and a length of hair similar to a ‘rat’s tail’ at the back of his head.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may recognise the person in the comfit or anyone who witnessed the incident on Tuesday 13 September 2011. Anyone with information is asked to call Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
