Assault with tomahawk –Alice Springs

Police



Police received a report around 9pm on Friday night of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Ellery Street. When they arrived the 39-year-old victim told police her husband had hit her with a tomahawk to the leg and stabbed her head and wrist with a fork. He then allegedly twice hit her over the head with a plastic chair.

The woman said her husband had also dragged her from a car earlier in the night and kicked her to the head and stomach. She was taken to Alice Springs Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and two counts of being armed with an offensive weapon. He appeared in court today and was remanded to appear again tomorrow (May 10.)
