Assault - Nightcliff - Update

Police

Police have released a comfit of a male currently sought in relation to the assault of a woman at 6.40 am yesterday.

The woman was riding a pushbike on the path between the roundabout at the Nightcliff Road and Progress Drive intersection, heading towards Trower Road.

Senior Sergeant Scott Manley from the Sex Crimes Section said “She was pulled from her bike by the male and was threatened in a sexual manner.  The male then ran off in the direction of Nightcliff Road when the woman screamed at him.  She did not receive any physical injuries during the assault. “

“The male involved is described as being in his late teens or early twenties, aboriginal in appearance wearing a knee-length pair of dark grey shorts with an elastic waist and red piping down the side of each leg and no shirt.

“The man’s head was shaved very closely all over except for the top of his head where a strip of longer hair grew.  It was described as frizzy and quite coarse. The longer part of his hair was pulled back into a kind of small ponytail on the top of his head.

“This male is not believed to be implicated in the sexual assault previously reported in Fannie Bay last Friday for which another male suspect has been apprehended.”  Senior Sergeant Manley said.

Police ask that anyone who was in the area at the time, or may have seen a person matching this image or description to contact them on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
