Police are searching for an offender following an assault that occurred on an 18-year-old woman in Jingili last night.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board of the General Crime Section said that the woman was walking her dog when the incident occurred.

“The woman states that she was walking her dog along Jingili Terrace at around 6:15 pm yesterday when she was grabbed from behind,” said Acting Senior Sergeant Board.

“It appears that when the woman was then pulled towards the ground. At this time the victim’s dog has bitten the offender on the ankle, causing him to flee the scene.

“At the time of the incident the victim was wearing earphones and listening to music. Whilst I encourage people to enjoy their time outdoors, I urge everyone to always be aware of their surroundings.”

The offender is described to be of African appearance, aged around 18 years and approximately 182 cm’s tall. He had short black hair and broad nose and at the time of the incident was wearing a grey polo shirt, red shorts and white running shoes.

Police would like to speak to the driver of a large silver sedan that was seen driving along Jingili Terrace at around 6:15 pm yesterday.
