A man who was caught in the act as he was trying to steal alcohol from a bar in Yulara will appear in court.

Four security guards apprehended the 34-year-old after they noticed him in the bar area of the Desert Gardens Hotel just before 1.30am on Sunday. The alleged offender climbed over the top of the security mesh on the bar and was in the process of stealing eight bottles of spirits before he was apprehended.

Police arrested the man and he has been charged with unlawful entry and stealing. He will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
