Arrest for unlawful entry - Parap

Police

It is alleged that two males aged 18 and 22 years of age entered an apartment building on Parap Road at approximately 2:00 am, stealing a small quantity of alcohol and a sum of money.

Police were notified and arrived within a short time and upon conducting patrols of the area, located the two offenders.

They have since been charged with numerous offences including:

Aggravated entry of a building with intent to commit and offence
Stealing
Trespass
Resist Police in execution of duty.

Sergeant Kaye Pemberton said that this was yet another crime that could have been easily prevented.

"Lock it or Lose it. We've all heard the phrase, which is why it's hard to believe that people still refuse to heed this warning," Sergeant Pemberton said.

"It's as simple as flicking a latch, pressing a button, or turning a key. Not only is it a nuisance having to replace stolen items but it also takes away peoples peace of mind, leaving them feeling somewhat violated.

"Lock your doors and call Police on 131 444 should you see any suspicious behaviour around your own our neighbours homes".

Both men are to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court 10 June 2011.
