Arrest for Unlawful Entry – Alice Springs

Police

Police have arrested a 20-year-old male after locating him with bottles of Rum down his pants early this morning in Alice Springs.

Members were alerted to an unlawful entry occurring at the Gap View Hotel at around 3:30 am this morning. While attending the premises, the offender was located lying on top of the cool room with alcohol in his trousers.

Other possible co-offenders were witnessed fleeing the scene in a silver Ford.

Michael Murphy, Superintendent of the Alice Springs Division said with incidents like this, we need assistance from community members.

“You are our eyes and ears and I urge the public to continue to report suspicious behaviour so we can interrupt this type of activity,” said Superintendent Murphy.

“Report unusual vehicles or persons in your neighbourhood, note the registration, description of the car and the occupants and contact Police. It takes a community effort to combat these problems.

“Let me send a clear message - people who involve themselves in these types of behaviours will be arrested.”

The 20-year-old remains in Police custody while investigations continue. It is expected he will be charged with unlawful entry and stealing this afternoon.
