Arrest - Unlawful entries - Parap

Police

Police have arrested a 47-year-old man from The Narrows, in relation to a series of unlawful entries in Parap yesterday morning.

It is alleged the offender gained entry to the Parap Tavern through a glass window in the rear bar, before removing two bottles of alcohol and fleeing the scene when the alarm was activated.

A short time later he was captured on CCTV breaking into a nearby pharmacy, where he stole a variety of prescription medication and fled the scene.

Police yesterday viewed CCTV footage of the incidents and identified the offender. As a result of information received from the public members located the offender at a house in the Narrows and conveyed him to the Darwin Watch House where he is assisting police with their enquiries.

Sergeant Andy Bedwell from the Commanders Tactical Team said NT Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this quick arrest.

"Information received from the public as a result of media coverage, assisted police in the swift apprehension of this offender." he said.
