Arrest for Stealing with Violence - Wagaman

Police

Police have arrested a 29-year-old male in relation to a stealing with violence incident that occurred early yesterday morning.

It is alleged that the offender attended a residence on Groote Street in Wagaman at around 1:30am and approached a 29-year-old male that was sitting outside the front of the house.

He asked for cigarettes and when he was declined, became agitated and produced a knife. The offender slashed a car tyre and then left the scene.

A short time later, a 14-year-old male who also lives at the residence was approached by the same male whilst walking near the intersection of Klein Street and Vanderlin Drive.

The offender again produced the knife and demanded money and clothes from the boy, who then ran home and reported the incident.

It was reported to Police and after following up on their investigations, members located the offender later that afternoon at a residence in Nightcliff.

He has been charged with:

  • Robbery - armed with a dangerous weapon
  • Assault - threaten with a weapon
  • Unlawfully damage property
  • Stealing

He has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court today.

Whilst Police were searching the Nightcliff residence, they located and arrested a 31-year-old male who is wanted by Police interstate for an unrelated matter.
