Arrest for shooting - Katherine

Police

Police have arrested a 29-year-old male, following a shooting incident that occurred in Katherine last night.

It is alleged that two vehicles, a purple and a blue sedan, both Holden Commodores, were travelling along the Victoria Highway at around 8:00 pm when the incident occurred.

Constable First Class Damien Barbe from the Northern Investigation Section said that the occupants of the vehicles knew each other and the incident was part of an ongoing dispute.

“It appears that the offender shot at the other vehicle, resulting in a 23-year-old driver receiving minor injuries,” said Constable First Class Barbe.

“He was taken to Katherine District Hospital.

“Police urge the 31-year-old male they believe was involved in the incident to come forward.

“Anyone else that may know of this man, or who may have been in the area at the time are also urged to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

The 29-year-old male remains in Police custody and is assisting with enquires.
