Arrest - Property Offences

Police

Members from the Casuarina and Darwin Tactical Teams have charged a 20-year-old man in relation to property offences.

After receiving information from members of the public, Police conducted four search warrants at various addresses around Darwin simultaneously on Wednesday morning, resulting in the seizure of an amount of stolen property.

Later in the day Police arrested the man in relation to an unlawful entry at the Wharf Precinct in December, where a laptop was stolen from a Toyota Landcruiser.

Pending further investigations Police also expect to lay further charges against the man and a 31-year-old man in relation to other car break-ins around Darwin over the past fortnight.

Investigations are continuing.

Superintendent John Ginnane warned would-be property offenders.

"Property offending is rightly considered to be a serious issue by members of the public,"

"People work very hard to buy their own property, and to have that property stolen by people who didn't have to sweat for it, is unreasonable as well as illegal." "That is the reason Police will not let up on property offenders, and in this instance some excellent Police work combined with information received from members of the community resulted in the retrieval and return of stolen property to its rightful owners." Superintendent Ginnane said.
