Arrest for Armed Person – Darwin City

Police

Police arrested a 20-year-old male after he attacked a motor vehicle with a machete in Darwin City last night.

The male was involved in an altercation with two other people in Smith Street near the BP Petrol Station at around 8:20pm.  At this point he was armed with a machete and pair of scissors. Despite this, he was knocked to the ground and the two other persons fled the scene.

The incident was reported to a passing police patrol who quickly took action to arrest the male.

He was conveyed to the Darwin Watch House and was charged this morning with:

  • Going armed in public
  • Possess/carry/use a controlled weapon
  • Unlawfully damage property
  • Supply false name

He will appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court later today.
