A 33-year-old man remains in police custody after aggravated assault in Coconut Grove late last night.


Police were called to residence on Dickward Drive at about 11:30 pm last night after two men were involved in an altercation. It is believed the offender and the 30-year-old male victim were involved in an argument before the offender proceeded to assault the man by punching and kicking him to the body. The offender is then alleged to have retreated to another part of the premise before returning with a pitch fork. Another physical altercation took place before the offender stabbed the victim to the chest with the pitch fork.


A witness immediately notified police.


The victim was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance.


Police attended the location where they arrested the offender and conveyed him to Darwin Watch House where he is currently being interviewed.
