Arrest for aggravated assault -Alice Springs

Police are investigating an alleged aggravated assault on a woman in Alice Springs last night.

Police received a report from a motorist just before 9.30pm of a woman lying on the road in Palm Circuit.

Detective Senior Constable Tim Lee said Police arrived and found the 30-year-old woman had been assaulted.

 “She was removed from the road by a passer-by and was then taken to the Alice Springs Hospital by ambulance,” Det. Sen Const Lee said.

“The alleged offender was identified to police and we arrested him a short time later at Old Timer’s Camp. He is expected to be interviewed later today.”

Police are appealing to any witnesses in the area at the time of the incident to come forward. Anyone with information should phone police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
