Aircraft incident - Nhulunbuy

Police

NT Fire and Rescue personnel were on hand within seconds to cover the aircraft with foam as a precaution. There was no fire and the pilot was able to get out without any injuries.

Senior Sergeant Brendan Muldoon said the pilot has done an excellent job in very trying circumstances. "The landing was as good as it could be without his landing gear".

There was considerable damage to the propellers and undercarriage. The Gove Airport will be closed for several hours while arrangements are being made to remove the aircraft.
