A 53-year-old man remains in hospital after he was stabbed in Katherine yesterday.



It is alleged the man was assaulted in the car park of the Oasis shopping centre at about 5:15 pm yesterday, after he intervened in a domestic disturbance.



He is alleged to have attempted to stop a fight between a 35-year-old man and his partner when he was stabbed to the chest by the male offender.



St John Ambulance attended the scene and conveyed the victim to Katherine Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.



Police arrested the offender a short time later and conveyed him to Katherine Watch House, where he remains assisting police with their enquiries.
