A 23-year-old man is in hospital after having his nose bitten off during an early morning incident in Smith Street.

Police were called to the scene at 5:00 am this morning to find the victim holding his head in his hands. The man’s nose was found lying on the ground nearby.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Royal Darwin Hospital to receive treatment.

A 43-year-old man was arrested a short time later and is currently in Police custody.
