Aggravated Assault Charges - Katherine

Police have charged a 40-year-old man in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred in Katherine on Friday night.

Superintendent Brent Warren said that the 40-year-old and a 19-year-old man were drinking together at a residence on Acacia Drive when an altercation broke out.

“The 19-year-old then walked to the Katherine Police Station at around 8.15 pm Friday night, presenting with a stab wound to his abdomen and forearm,” said Superintendent Warren.

“The male was taken to Katherine Hospital before being transported to Royal Darwin Hospital for further treatment. He remains in a stable condition.”

The 40-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious harm and has been bailed to appear in the Katherine Court on 19 September 2011.
