33 cannabis plants seized - Darwin

Police

Detectives from Task Force Nemesis seized $100,000 worth of cannabis from a home in Herbert on Friday.

Detective Sergeant Mark Stringer said Detectives executed a search warrant at the rural home and found a shed that contained two sophisticated hydroponics grow rooms.

“During the search, Detectives located and seized a total of 33 mature cannabis plants and 3.3 kilograms of loose cannabis plant material.

“Further checks of the property uncovered three devices installed to a power meter to unlawfully appropriate power.

“Due to the sophisticated set up of this cannabis cultivation, we don’t believe it to be the man’s first crop.

“The Northern Territory Police will continue to target people involved in the cultivation and supply of illicit drugs, not only in Darwin but throughout the Territory,” Detective Sergeant Stringer said.

The 46-year-old man was charged with:

  • Cultivate cannabis - commercial quantity
  • Possess cannabis - commercial quantity
  • Unlawfully appropriate power

The man was bailed to appear at the Darwin Magistrates Court on 7 October 2011.
