18-year-old Arrested for Arson Holtze

Police arrested an 18-year-old male yesterday in relation to an arson incident that occurred in Holtze last week.

Members from the Palmerston Tactical Team and General Crime Section arrested the male after it was established that he was involved in a vehicle fire.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board said he is alleged to have set fire to a Hino Water Truck on Wednesday 28 September on Glendower Road.

“The vehicle, valued at around $25,000 was completely destroyed by the flames,’ said Detective A/Senior Sergeant Board.

“He was also allegedly involved in the unlawful entry that occurred at a business in Pinelands on the Stuart Highway between Friday 23 and Saturday 24 September.

“It appears that the 18-year-old, along with a number of co offenders, cut through the wire fence of the premises and stole two ATV’s valued at $38,000.

“Both vehicles were located in the Pinelands area and sustained substantial amounts of damage.”

The 18-year-old has been charged with:

  • Arson
  • Stealing
  • Damage property
  • Interfere with a motor vehicle
  • Trespass

He received bail and is to appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court 26 October 2011.
