Youth arrests – Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police have arrested two male youths in relation to unlawful entry, interfere with a motor vehicle and assault on Wednesday.

Police allege that at approximately 1:00 am the two youths, aged 12 and 14, entered the occupied residence through the front door.

The youths were disturbed when the 47-year-old male woke up after a torch was shone into his room. When the male occupant confronted the two youths they struck his arm with a solid object and ran from the scene with car keys and a wallet.

On police arrival members observed two youths running from the area and after a short foot pursuit the youths were apprehended hiding behind a car.

The 14-year-old youth has been charged with unlawful entry, aggravated assault and stealing. The 12-year-old youth had been charged with unlawful entry, aggravated assault, stealing, criminal damage and interfere with a motor vehicle.

21 youths have been arrested with a combined total of 236 offences in relation to a series of unlawful entries, stealing and damage to motor vehicles for the month of October
