WA Assistant Commissioner named as NTs new Deputy Commissioner of Police

Northern Territory Commissioner of Police John McRoberts has announced that WA Assistant Commissioner Shayne Maines has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of the NT Police Force.

Commissioner McRoberts said Shayne Maines was the standout applicant from a high calibre field contesting the position and that he would take up his new appointment on Monday 26 July.

"I look forward to welcoming Shayne to the NT Police Force where his exceptional leadership, management and policing skills will be put to good use," he said.

"With Masters qualifications in Leadership and Management and Business Administration, and an outstanding career as a police officer and police administrator in WA, Assistant Commissioner Maines will make a valuable contribution to our executive management team here in the Territory."

Assistant Commissioner Maines will come to the Northern Territory Police following 29 years in the WA Police Service, having joined as a Police Cadet in 1981.

He has most recently led the Specialist Enforcement and Operations portfolio with responsibility for the delivery of specialist frontline policing services throughout Western Australia.
