Vehicle Intercept - Alcohol / Drug Offences - Oenpelli

Two men were arrested when police seized a quantity of alcohol and cannabis in a vehicle apprehension in the early hours of this morning. At about 5.30 am a vehicle travelling on the Oenpelli Access Road was sighted by police driving very slowly and sitting very low to the ground. A subsequent search resulted in a quantity of alcohol and drugs being seized including: 4 x 4 litre casks wine 152 grams of cannabis in 7 large clip seal bags 111 grams of cannabis plant A 51-year-old man has been charged with a series of offences including: Bring liquor into prescribed area Possess liquor in prescribed area Consume liquor in a prescribed area Transport liquor 1350 ml or more A 24-year-old man has been charged with; Possess cannabis Supply cannabis Northern Divisional officer A/Supt Steve Heyworth said "This is good example of solid pro-active policing. Police in our remote communities continue to keep pressure on grog runners and those people who want to transport drugs into these communities."
