NT Police and Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the scene of a vehicle crash on Vanderlin Drive in Leanyer earlier tonight.

Police were alerted to the crash at 7:15 pm where it appears a scooter collided with the back of a 4x4 after the driver slowed to stop at the Leanyer Drive traffic lights.

The scooter rider sustained serious injuries in the crash and has been conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Police remain at the scene.

The inbound lanes of Vanderlin Drive between the Leanyer Water Park and the Leanyer Drive traffic lights have been closed and traffic is being diverted around the scene.

Investigators from the Traffic Enforcement Section are travelling to the scene to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, specifically anyone who stopped to render assistance and left the scene before police arrival. Please contact police on 131 444 if you have further information.
