Update - Unlawful Entry – Winnellie Hotel

Police

Police are continuing to appeal for information from the public in relation to the incident that occurred on Sunday morning at the Winnellie Hotel.

Shortly after 4am on Sunday morning, it is alleged that a white hatchback has reversed into the roller door of the bottle shop, smashing the door open and allowing access. Three males have entered the bottle shop and have removed approximately 30 bottles.

Further investigations have revealed that the 1986 White Ford Laser used in this incident had been stolen from a Leanyer residence at around 11pm on Saturday night.

The three offenders involved in this incident are also believed to be involved in an assault of a 32 year old male in coconut grove at around 5am that morning.

Police also believe that the offenders may be linked to the attempted stealing of a green Toyota hatch back in Karama at around 1am on the Sunday morning.

These offenders believed to be involved in these incidents are described as:

The first male is described as being of Aboriginal appearance with a light complexion and was wearing a pale blue hooded top, 3/4 length shorts, with no shoes.

The second male is described as being of Aboriginal appearance with a light complexion and was wearing a black t-shirt with a white emblem, knee length shorts with grey slip on type shoes and white socks.

The third male is described as Caucasian and was wearing a grey hooded jumper with black 3/4 shorts and no shoes.

The white hatchback vehicle used to ram the roller doors has now been located burnt out in bushland near Vanderlin Drive.

Police are seeking information from the public who may have witnessed the incident or have any other relevant information.
