NT Police and the Fire and Rescue Service are currently in attendance at a large grass fire in the rural area. The fire is currently threatening property between Hicks Road Girraween, Callistemon Road Howard Springs and properties on both sides of Whitewood Road. The fire front is currently travelling in a westerly direction along Whitewood Road. Residents are urged to prepare to protect their block if safe to do so or evacuate immediately to the oval at Howard Springs Primary School on Whitewood Road. The following roads have been affected by the fire and are not open to the public. Hicks Road Sittella Road Callistemon Road Little John Road The lower part of Whitewood Road Watling Road Police urge members of the public to stay out of the area.
