NT Fire and Rescue Service assisted by Bushfire Council continue to fight a large grass fire in the rural area. The fire front is currently moving along Cornelius Road. The fire has been contained along: Whitewood Road Hicks Road Whatley Road Asset protection is taking place along: Finlay Road Hillier Road Back burning is about to commence along Baston Road and Hicks Road. All available resources are in use and fire crews have been recalled to duty. Bushfire Council NT have provided fifteen additional fire crews including one reconnaissance helicopter, three water bombers and a fixed wing aircraft. The Australian Defence Force are also assisting. Chief Fire Officer Greg Nettleton advises that the amount of smoke in the area is hindering visibility. Drivers are urged drivers to stay off the roads if possible. Tune into ABC Radio for updates on the current Bushfire in the Howard Springs Area.
