Ten people have been arrested following disturbances in Yuendumu this week.

Additional police were sent to the community following a large number of disturbances which began on Wednesday. During the disturbances a number of people were assaulted, one house was set alight and six cars were torched.

Territory Response Section members travelled to Yuendumu to help maintain order and detectives from the Regional Investigations Division were sent to assist with investigations into the incidents.

Ten people have been arrested so far and more arrests are expected later today.

Among those arrested was a 27-year-old woman who has been charged with:
Taking part in a riot
Going armed in public
Criminal Damage
Aggravated assault
Incite violence

A 25-year-old man has been charged with:
Criminal damage
Riotous behaviour

Both have been bailed to appear in the Yuendumu Court on October 12.

The eight others arrested are being flown to Alice Springs to be interviewed.
