Unlawful entry at pool –Update #1 - Alice Springs - 4492911

Police have arrested another teenager in relation to an unlawful entry at the Alice Springs Swimming Pool at the weekend.

Police arrested three youths aged 13, 14 and 15, in relation to an the incident in which a chain lock on the perimeter fence of the pool complex was cut. Three of the alleged offenders were arrested yesterday with another boy, aged 14, arrested this morning.

Two of the offenders, aged 13 and 15, will be considered for Youth Diversion, while two 14-year-olds will face court for numerous offences including six counts of stealing, six of criminal damage, one of unlawful entry and two of trespass. One of the boys is also charged with being in breach of his bail conditions.

Police will allege that three of the boys jumped the pool fence and went for a swim around 2am on Saturday. They then went to the Alice on Todd Apartments where they stole a pair of bolt cutters which they used to cut the security chain on four bicycles. They and their co-offenders then allegedly rode the bikes back to the pool and used the bolt cutters to enter the complex and cut the lock on the canteen roller shutters. They then allegedly stole various food items before fleeing the area.

Members of the Property Crime Reduction Unit are continuing investigations and further arrests are expected.
