Unlawful Entry and Stealing - Darwin City

Police

Members from the Commanders Tactical Team are currently investigating the theft of sports memorabilia from a business in Darwin City over night.

Police were alerted to the break in on Whitfield Street this morning at about 5:00 am after an employee arrived at work to find the front door smashed.

Police attended there scene where is appears the unknown offender(s entered the premises by smashing the front glass doors with a piece of concrete before removing a number of signed sports jerseys. The offender(s are then believed to have rummaged through the offices and removed two computer monitors.

The following jerseys were stolen from the shop:

3x blue sleeveless Carlton football jerseys
2x white Carlton football jerseys
1 x yellow Carlton jersey
All six shirts have distinctive signatures on them.

It is believed this was an opportunistic theft and police are calling for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who may have further information to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 888.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bedwell is calling for the public to keep an eye out for the collectable jerseys.

"We believe the offenders may be wearing the jerseys; the yellow jersey is easily identifiable and we are hoping a member of the public will spot it around town; possibly being worn" he said.
