A man will appear in court after his vehicle and a police car collided near Mutitjulu.

Yulara Police received a report just after 5.30pm on Friday that a police vehicle travelling east collided with a Ford Falcon sedan which was travelling in the opposite direction. The crash occurred approximately 30 kilometres east of Mutitjulu on a dirt road.

The police vehicle with two police officers aboard was negotiating a sweeping left-hand bend when they collided with the on-coming car containing seven occupants. Both drivers tested negative after being breathalysed at the scene, however, the driver of the Ford was found to be unlicensed. He was also driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

No-one was seriously injured in the crash. Police investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing, however the 30-year-old male driver of the Ford will face court on numerous traffic offences.
