Two arrested for firearms offences- Darwin

Two people have been arrested following a firearms incident in Acacia Hills south of Darwin this morning.

Police at Palmerston received a report from the two victims just after 9.30am today. A man aged 47 and a female aged 54 told police they had been asleep at their home on the corner of Manton Valley Road and Buyers Road at 4.30am today when they were woken by the sounds of gunfire.

They told police several shots had been fired and their two vehicles had been damaged.

Members of the Territory Response Section were called out to assist general duties police and roads near the alleged offenders' property at Darwin River were closed for several hours. The alleged offenders - a man and a woman- were arrested late this afternoon. They are yet to be interviewed.
