Three drug seizures - Darwin

A 27-year-old female was pulled over by police on Essington Avenue shortly before 10.00 pm for the purpose of a random breath test. It is alleged that when members approached the vehicle a strong cannabis odour was coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted with members locating 170 grams of cannabis inside a brown paper takeaway bag under the passenger seat. The female will be summonsed in relation to the possession of cannabis in a public place in a trafficable quantity, supply cannabis, driving unlicensed and providing a false name to police.

On Friday police apprehended a vehicle travelling along the Stuart Highway in Coolalinga shortly before 10:30 pm after it was observed driving in a suspicious manner. It is alleged that when police approached the vehicle there was a strong cannabis odour coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted with the assistance of Drug Detector Dog 'Tiapan' resulting in 197.6 grams of cannabis located throughout the vehicle. Three men aged 22, 23 and 41will be summonsed in relation to the possession of cannabis.

A 45-year-old female has been charged in relation to drug offences after Groote Eyelandt members conducted a search on a flight from Darwin on Friday. A search of the woman's hand luggage revealed 84 grams of cannabis located inside a floatation ring wrapped in Christmas paper. The female has been changed with supply a dangerous drug in a community and possess cannabis in a trafficable quantity, she was bailed and is due to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 3 December.
