Taxi driver robbed – Alice Springs

Police

At approximately 12:15 am this morning a taxi driver received a fare for one male to be transported to Larapinta Drive.

It is alleged that when the taxi driver arrived at the location, an unknown male placed his leg into the vehicle and demanded money from the taxi driver. The male had green material wrapped around his face, covering his nose and mouth. The driver handed over an amount of money but the male demanded more, to which the taxi driver complied. The male has then stepped out of the vehicle and the taxi driver drove off and contacted police.

The male is described as being of olive complexion, late 20's to early 30's, approximately 175 centimetres tall with a medium build and short dark hair.

He was last seen wearing dark brown/black shorts, light colour t-shirt and a green t-shirt or similar wrapped around his face.

Police urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or who may have any information to contact them on 131 444 or on Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Media Contact Sarah Trinne 8922 3531
