Suspicious Death - Katherine - update #3

Detectives from the Katherine Investigations Unit are continuing to investigate the suspicious death of a 52-year-old man at a house in Pearce Street, Katherine on Tuesday.

Police were alerted to the death on Tuesday at two friends located the man deceased in his lounge room. An autopsy revealed that the man died as a result of a stab wound to his neck.

Line searches of the area are being carried out, interviews are being conducted with a number of potential witnesses, and Police are continuing to review CCTV footage from a number of sites in and around the Katherine CBD.

Police are seeking assistance from a number of potential witnesses who were in the vicinity of Pearce Street, Katherine Terrace and the BP Service Station between midday Monday 21 and midday Tuesday 22 June 2010.

Police are also looking to speak the person depicted in the attached Comfit image. The person is described as:

16 / 17 years of age
165 centimetres tall
Black hair
Skinny build
Of Aboriginal appearance

Police urge anyone who may know the identity of the man or who may have any information in relation this person or any other aspect of the incident to contact them on 131 444 or on Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
