Suspicious Death - Katherine - update

Detectives from the Katherine Investigations Unit continue to appeal for public assistance after the suspicious death of a 52-year-old man at a house in Pearce Street, Katherine yesterday.

An autopsy was conducted this afternoon and Police believe the man died as a result of a stab wound to his neck.

Police were alerted to the death at about 5:45pm on Tuesday 22 June after two visitors located the man deceased in the lounge room.

A crime scene is being maintained whilst Crime Scene Investigators conduct a forensic examination of the house.

Police would like to speak with a man depicted in CCTV footage taken from BP Service Station on Katherine Terrace at about 1.30am on Tuesday 22 June.

The man is described as of Aboriginal appearance, slim build, 160 -170 cm tall, wearing a checked long sleeved shirt, knee length gray camouflage shorts and a red baseball cap.

Police urge anyone who may have been in the area of Pearce Street in the last 48 hours or who may have any information in relation to the incident to contact them on 131 444 or on Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
