NT Police are interested in speaking with a person depicted in CCTV footage from a tavern in Leanyer that was unlawfully entered over night.

Detectives believe the man may be able to assist with their inquiries in relation to a number of offences that occurred in the suburb of Leanyer earlier today; one of which has resulted in the death of an 8-year-old boy.

Detective Superintendent Kris Evans of the Major Crime Division said

"This morning a number of offences were committed in the suburb of Leanyer. NT Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding these offences in order to establish a link and a possible motive.

"Police are seeking members of the public to come forward with any information to assist in the investigation of this tragic death. In particular we are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the person depicted in the footage; however we would also like to hear from any other person that may have had property offences committed against them during the night."
