Police

Police, Fire and Rescue received a report of a structure fire, being a large shed, shortly after 1:00am.

The fire was extinguished by local fire volunteers.

On inspection of the scene, a hydroponics cannabis operation was discovered set up in a small adjoining shed. Preliminary enquiries suggest that the hydroponics room is where the blaze started.

Members of the Drug Enforcement Section attended and executed a search warrant and located:
- 1,366 grams of cannabis
- 4 x large cannabis plants
- transformers
- lighting equipment
- soil nutrients
- pots
- a .22 calibre pistol
- Rifle barrel

Enquiries are continuing, however the man will be summonsed to appear in court on numerous drug and firearms charges.

Detective Senior Sergeant Clint Sims of the Drug Enforcement Section said: "Again, this incident highlights the real danger than clandestine drug plantations and operations can have, not only to the greater public and the emergency services who have to attend these incidences, but also those people directly involved in cultivating and manufacturing illicit substances."
