Police are calling for public assistance in relation to a stealing with violence incident that occurred on Mitchell Street at about 1:20 am this morning.

The victim states that he was walking along Mitchell Street in the vicinity of Daly Street when he was hit in the head from behind by two unknown males.

It is alleged that one of the males then stole the victim's iPhone 4 and black and gray Globe brand shoes.

The victim chased after one of the offenders towards the Shell Service Station on Daly Street but lost him shortly after. The second offender was last seen running towards Packard Street.

The first male is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 180cm tall, heavy build, wearing blue jeans and a light coloured shirt.

The second male is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 177cm tall, medium build, dark hair and wearing dark jeans.

Police urge anyone who may have seen the incident, or who may have any information in relation to the incident, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigations are continuing.
