Stealing with violence – Casuarina - 4454595

Police

Police have arrested a 14-year-old male in relation to multiple reports of stealing with violence in the Casuarina area last night.

It is alleged that the male entered the Coles Complex in Casuarina Square at approximately 7:45pm and stole a quantity alcohol. Police attended, viewed security footage from the store and identified the male.

The male allegedly returned to the store a short time later and attempted to steal further products however was intercepted by security staff. It is alleged that whilst being spoken to by security staff, the male produced a large carving knife and threatened them before fleeing the store.

Police were then called to a residence in Wagaman after a 32-year-old male alleged that he had been held at knife point in the driveway of his home on Trower Road. He gave a description of the offender which matched that of the 14-year-old male.

He alleged that the male had followed him from an Automatic Teller Machine at Casuarina Square to his home and demanded cash from him. The offender allegedly fled the scene when two members of the public came to the aide of the 32-year-old male.

Police immediately attended and located the 14-year-old male walking outbound on Trower Road.

He was arrested and is currently being held in custody.

A large carving knife was recovered in the vicinity of the male's arrest, as well as items of clothing matching those seen worn by the male in security footage.

Investigations into all matters are ongoing.

Duty Superintendent Dean Moloney praised the quick policing work by attending members and also the actions of the public for reporting these incidents swiftly which assisted police in the apprehension of this person.
