Two men will appear in court following the theft of thousands of dollars worth of copper wire and other scrap metal from several mine sites and a disused abattoir.

Tennant Creek detectives investigating a reported theft of a large quantity of copper wire, arrested the two men after executing a search warrant on a metal trading business.
In the tray of a Nissan Navara utility, Police found a large quantity of copper pipe believed to have been stolen from the abattoir earlier that day. Police also found two electric motors reported stolen from the Warrego Mine earlier this month.
Police believe the items were part of a large amount of property including electrical cabling, stolen from various mines and businesses since October last year. The estimated value of the goods was almost $15,000.

The pair aged 47 and 51 have been charged with:
Stealing
Aggravated unlawful entry
Unlawfully possess property
Receive stolen property
Unlawfully damage property

The 51-year-old has been remanded in custody to appear in the Tennant Creek magistrates Court on March 2, while the 47-year-old has been bailed to the same date.
