Police are appealing to members of the public for assistance following the theft of a large amount of cash from a Central Australian community store.

Detectives from Tennant Creek Regional Investigations travelled to the Arlparra Community following a report that a large amount of cash was stolen from the store after an unlawful entry.

Thieves jemmied open a door to gain access to the store in the early hours of this morning before making off with the cash, two vehicles and a large quantity of goods. One of the vehicles was later recovered.

Police are particularly appealing to local businesses in Central Australia to contact them if they notice anyone trying to make purchases with suspiciously large amounts of cash. Police are also appealing to any family and friends of the offenders to come forward with information about the theft.
